BITS Annual Meeting 2013

BITS annual meeting   for the  academic year 2012-13 for faculty and students  was held on   Saturday 19  January, 2013  from 9.00am to 5.00 pm. 
The theme was Migration: Revisiting The Theology Of Mission.  The program began with worship    led by friends from Focolare  and Students from SAIACS.  Dr. Reji Samuel, Convener & Co-Ordinator, BITS welcomed the gathering. There were 98 participants who attened the program.  Dr. John Arun Kumar, Professor at SAIACS and  Chair Person, BITS brought the introductory remarks.  The Key Note Address  was by  Dr. Lalrinawmi Ralte, Professor, United Theological College, It was followed by  Panel discussion led by Ms. Rahath Begum AVAS (Forced Migration).   Fr. Martin Puthussery (Migration out of Necessity ) Mr. Binu Varghese, DON BOSCO ,(Migration due to Human trafficking). Afternoon the participants spend time in  group discussion ,r eported their findings in the  and plenary discussion followed by Cultural program























BITS One day program February  2011

BITS Annual Seminar was held at Ecumenical Christian Centre , Conference Hall
On  February 12, 2011 Saturday . Theme for the seminar was  Privacy As Human Right
            The day started with the beautiful Worship led by  Kristu Jyothi College, K.R. Puram
Rev. Reji Samuel, Convener & Co-ordinator, BITS welcomed the gathering .
 The first session was chaired by Rev. Dr. Jones Muthunayagom, Chairperson, BITS  who also brought words of  Introduction.   Rev. Dr. M. Mani Chacko, Director, Ecumenical Christian Centre inaugurated the seminar sharing from his life journey and experience with particular reference to Privacy issues.
The Key Note address was brought by   Fr. Dr.George Mutholil S.J.,  Director,  Indian Social Institute, Bangalore. In his address he discussed about : What is happening to Privacy, Threats to Privacy, Technologies of Privacy, Reasons for adopting comprehensive laws, moral and legal aspects, and  Judicial trends in India  relating to the concept of Individual privacy. Privacy isa fundamental right. Privacy has many facets, such as information privacy, bodily privacy, privacy of communication,  and territorial privacy. There has been attempts by several nations to monitor the movements of its people. However, these efforts have always been undermined the democratic process. The best example is the Adhar/ UID proposed by the central government of India. There is a need t adopt comptrehensive laws to check the abuse and and to protect data. Another signifiucant dimension is the moral issues related to privacy.
In the following session  of panel discussions   Mr Sunil Abraham, Mr Sunil Abraham, Centre for Internet and Society, Bangalore  talked about issues of privacy in  Social networking and internet .Mr. Mathew Thomas,  Citizen Action Forum analyzed the issues of UID and Privacy issues.    Ms. Elonnai Hickok ,  CIS, Bangalore  discussed about GPS / CC TV / Cell Phone etc.,  followed by discussions.
After the lunch   the participants were divided into various groups and had   lively discussions.  The plenary session was moderated by Rev. Dr. Jones Muthunayagom. Vote of Thanks  was proposed by by Dr John Arun Kumar from SAIACS .
